Mamelodi Sundowns have added another piece of international silverware to their trophy cabinet after defeating Saudi Arabian giants Al Ahli 2–1 at Loftus Versfeld.
Portuguese forward Nuno Santos was the hero, scoring both goals as the African champions overcame their Asian counterparts to lift the FIFA African-Asian-Pacific Cup.
The victory also sends Sundowns through to the next stage of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, keeping their hopes of reaching the final against European champions Paris Saint-Germain alive.
Africa’s champions are making their mark on the global stage.
