Chippa United coach Thabo September has expressed his disappointment after negotiations to sign former Bafana Bafana striker Kermit Erasmus broke down. The veteran forward had been training with the Eastern Cape club, but despite the coach’s enthusiasm, an agreement couldn’t be reached.

Speaking after his team’s 2-2 draw against Marumo Gallants at Buffalo City Municipality Stadium on Saturday, September shared his frustration.
Yes, he was training with us, but it didn’t work out. We would have liked to sign him, but there were certain things that the club couldn’t agree with,” he explained to Dispatch Live.
The 34-year-old Erasmus, a free agent since leaving Orlando Pirates last year, has had trouble securing a contract despite his impressive career, including stints at clubs like Stade Rennais and Cape Town City. Chippa United, currently battling relegation in the Betway Premiership, had hoped his experience and attacking prowess could bolster their squad.
While Erasmus’ future remains uncertain, September remains optimistic about his team’s chances as they prepare for the second half of the season. With several clubs still looking to strengthen their squads, all eyes will be on where the talented forward lands next.
