The Hollywoodbets Pro Series has officially begun, featuring the highly anticipated Hollywoodbets Pro50 and Pro20 Competitions, and the opening weekend did not disappoint.
In the Pro20 competition, the Hollywoodbets Dolphins Ladies secured a nail-biting two-wicket victory over the Fidelity Titans, successfully chasing down a target of 116 runs. Key contributions from the Titans came from Robyn Searle (38), Eliz-Mari Marx (26), and Chanel Venter (24), who helped set a total of 116/8.
The Dolphins responded with grit and determination, led by Nondumiso Shangase (33) and Yasmeen Khan (21), reaching 118/8 with just four balls to spare.
The action continued on Saturday with the start of the Hollywoodbets Pro50 competition, where the Knights faced the DP World Lions Women in Bloemfontein, while the Dolphins took on the Titans Women in Durban.

At the Mangaung Oval, the Lions showcased their strength, with SA U19 stars Karabo Meso and Jenna Evans leading the charge. Meso achieved her maiden century, scoring a remarkable 128 off 129 balls, while Evans contributed a solid unbeaten 65. With additional support from Diara Ramlakan (36), the Lions posted an impressive 296/7 in their 50 overs.
Despite a valiant effort from the Knights, who were bowled out for 180, captain Zintle Kula’s half-century and three wickets weren’t enough to secure victory. Verunissa Reddy added a fifty, while Yolandi Potgieter contributed 30 runs. Evans excelled with the ball, claiming 4/18 in just over five overs.
In Durban, the Dolphins continued their strong performance in the Pro50, chasing down 207 runs set by the Titans. Key contributions from Searle (59), Tebogo Macheke (36), and twentys from Kay-Leigh Tapp and Venter helped the Titans reach their total. The Dolphins’ chase was anchored by half-centuries from Asamkele Kawu (63) and Shangase (62), who led their team to victory at 208/8 in 42 overs.
The opening weekend concluded with a thrilling Pro20 match where the Knights exacted revenge, claiming a commanding six-wicket win over the Lions. After bowling first, the Knights restricted the Lions to 115/5, with Nonkululeko Thabethe top-scoring with an unbeaten 52. Izel Cilliers anchored the Knights’ response, finishing with an impressive 54* and guiding the team to victory with two balls remaining.
The Hollywoodbets Pro Series opening weekend set an electrifying tone for what promises to be a fiercely competitive season ahead.
