Nabi Calls for Patience as Chiefs Struggle to Find Form

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has urged Amakhosi supporters to remain patient and continue backing the team after their disappointing 2-1 defeat to Golden Arrows at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

The loss not only sealed a league double for Arrows over the Soweto giants but also reinforced their dominance in recent meetings, marking their sixth victory over Chiefs since the league resumed post-lockdown—more than any other club in that period.

For Chiefs, the numbers paint a concerning picture. The defeat left them eighth in the Betway Premiership table with 29 points, having recorded eight wins, five draws, and ten losses this season. Even more worrying is the trend of double-digit league defeats, with Chiefs now losing at least ten games in each of the last three seasons—something they had only done three times in the first 26 PSL seasons combined.

Missed Chances Prove Costly

Speaking after the match, Nabi reflected on a game where Chiefs showed promise but failed to capitalize on their opportunities.

“We controlled the first half very well and created chances to score, but we didn’t take them,” he said. “After halftime, we had the injury to Thabo Cele, which disrupted our organization, and Arrows took advantage of that.”

Arrows capitalized on defensive lapses, with Nabi emphasizing that both goals resulted from individual errors.

“We were finding control in the game, but those mistakes cost us. Every time we failed to take our chances, we got punished on the other end,” he admitted. “With fifteen minutes to go, it became very difficult to turn the game around.”

Nabi’s Message: Patience and Support

Despite the setback, Nabi insists there is no need to panic. Instead, he believes a combination of patience and squad reinforcements will turn things around.

To change the situation, we need two things: patience and better squad depth,” he explained. “I only worry when the team plays badly. Right now, I am concerned, but this is not a long-term crisis for Kaizer Chiefs.

With growing frustration among the Amakhosi faithful, Nabi issued a plea to the supporters, urging them to continue backing the players through this challenging period.

“My message to Kaizer Chiefs fans is to be patient. Love the team and trust the process,” he said. “I understand the frustration—I feel it more than anyone. But do not panic; we are working at 200% to improve the situation.”

“Most importantly, do not attack the players. Protect them, support them, and I am confident things will change in the future.”

Next Up: TS Galaxy Test

Amakhosi now face a stern challenge when they host high-flying TS Galaxy in their next fixture. With pressure mounting, they will need to be far more clinical in front of goal if they are to secure a much-needed victory and ease the growing concerns among their fanbase.
