Battle for Lucas Ribeiro Costa
Mamelodi Sundowns forward Lucas Ribeiro Costa is at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war. After a standout season that saw him sweep the PSL awards and impress at the FIFA Club World Cup, two clubs are reportedly leading the chase for the Brazilian star: Fluminense in Brazil and Qatari SC from Qatar.
According to Brazilian outlet Globo, both clubs have submitted competitive offers, but Ribeiro is believed to favour a return to his homeland. Sundowns are yet to make a decision.
Lorch Back in Limbo
Thembinkosi Lorch’s future remains uncertain. After a strong loan spell with Wydad AC in Morocco, the club is reportedly keen to keep him, but only on a free transfer. Sundowns, however, are unwilling to let him go without a fee.
Reports suggest Lorch has not joined the club’s pre-season camp in Rustenburg, despite being instructed to return. The player is said to be seeking a fresh start.
Ethan Brooks Set for US Move
Former AmaZulu and Bafana Bafana midfielder Ethan Brooks is on the verge of a move to the United States. SABC Sport reports the 23-year-old is in talks with USL Championship side Lexington SC and was expected to travel to the U.S. for discussions this week.

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the departure of left-back Bongani Sam after just one season. The 27-year-old, who joined from Orlando Pirates in July 2024, struggled to secure regular game time. Chiefs wished him well in an official statement.

The North West province will welcome a new team in the PSL after Lerumo Lions bought the status of Motsepe Foundation Championship club Pretoria Callies.
Lions, previously in the ABC Motsepe League, are owned by Sibongile Marokana. The acquisition comes shortly after Orbit College secured promotion to the Betway Premiership, marking a strong rise for North West football.
