Both TS Galaxy and Richards Bay clinched their spots in the quarterfinals of the Carling Knockout Cup with hard-fought victories this past weekend.

Sunday, 20 October
TS Galaxy 1-0 Chippa United
TS Galaxy advanced to the last 16 of the Carling Knockout Cup after a tense 1-0 win over Chippa United, despite finishing the match with nine men. Chilli Boys goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali was the busier of the two keepers, but with neither team able to score in regulation time, the match went into extra time. Dzenan Zajmovic finally broke the deadlock in the 103rd minute, only to receive a red card in the 114th for a reckless challenge. Sepana Letsoalo followed suit with a red card in the 120th minute due to an off-the-ball incident. The Rockets will next face Marumo Gallants in the league, while Chippa United prepares to take on Stellenbosch.
Richards Bay 1-0 Sekhukhune United
In a closely contested match at King Zwelithini Stadium, Richards Bay secured their quarter-final spot with a goal from Lwandile Mabuya in the 42nd minute. Both teams had opportunities, but Sekhukhune United struggled to convert their chances. Now, Richards Bay will look ahead to a home match against Stellenbosch, while Sekhukhune shifts focus back to the Betway Premiership with an away game against Royal AM.
