Bafana Bafana continued their perfect start to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with a commanding 5-0 victory over Eritrea in Cairo on Wednesday night.
Relebohile Mofokeng was the star of the show in Egypt, scoring twice in the first half to give South Africa a comfortable 2-0 lead at the break. The Jingles lads started slow as they were playing an attacking football fielding in 5 midfielders.
Sphephelo Sithole added a third shortly after half-time before Iqraam Rayners found the net to make it 4-0. Luther Singh completed the rout with a late fifth goal.

Oswin Appollis also played a major role in the victory, providing three assists as Bafana produced an impressive attacking display.
The result gives Bafana six points from their opening two AFCON qualifiers, following their 2-1 victory over Guinea. South Africa now sit at the top of Group D as Pitso Mosimane begins his latest spell in charge with back-to-back wins.
Bafana’s attention now turns to Egypt, with the two sides set to meet in an international friendly on 6 October.
The five goal victory will give South Africa plenty of confidence as they continue their push for a place at AFCON 2027
