Kaizer Chiefs have made an unbeaten start to the 2026/27 Betway Premiership campaign, but their latest result has raised an important question: can Amakhosi turn consistency into victories?
Chiefs played out a 1–1 draw against Polokwane City on 12 September. Lebohang Maboe to put Amakhosi ahead before Brandon Petersen’s own goal in the 73rd minute that allowed Polokwane to claim a point. Despite creating chances, Chiefs could not find a late winner.
The result leaves Chiefs fourth with 12 points from six matches behind Usuthu, having won three and drawn three. They remain unbeaten, but the three draws mean they have dropped six points already.
Can Chiefs turn draws into wins?
The next challenge comes against Golden Arrows on 20 September at Mbombela Stadium. Arrows have also been difficult to beat, with four draws from their opening six league matches They are known for playing counterattack football forcing opponents to make mistakes to capitalise on that and accumulate points.
For Fernando da Cruz’s side, the next step is clear: continue the defensive consistency while becoming more ruthless when chances arrive. If Chiefs can start converting tight matches into three-point victories, their position near the top of the table could change quickly.
